WRITING TRAINING PROGRAMMES

GPs in Australia were facing difficulties in working with drinkers and drug users who had been coerced (by courts, families, employers) into seeking help. An alcohol and drug agency wanted to offer these GPs training in motivational interviewing skills. They commissioned a trainers' manual which included session plans, slides and handouts, a video demonstrating the relevant counselling skills and an induction session for the trainers.
